The amount of hype around Full Throttle Mother has gotten out of hand. People are talking about Mother and are excited to check it out. I’m not sure if it’s a mainstream launch of an acai flavored energy drink or that Coke and the Full Throttle brand are releasing an “all natural” drink, but I’ve been getting a ton of email about Full Throttle Mother. Full Throttle only mixed things up a little here. They took the standard Full Throttle can which has different colors based on flavor: red for Fury and blue for Blue Demon and made it green for Mother. The green certainly makes sense since they are going for an all-natural take with Full Throttle mother, green being the color of nature. The green looks good. They also did a slight modification by adding a tagline. They put the tagline to play off the Mother word and inserted “Nature is one bad Mother.” I like it, clever and bad ass while still being green and all natural. They say the flavor is going to be acai berry, which we have really only seen in an energy drink with Steaz so far, but the world is abuzz with clamoring for acai so things are sure aligning like Full Throttle Mother is going to be an all natural hit.
Full Throttle Mother comes out of the can as a light strawberry pink in color. It’s kind of freaky because there’s a huge foamy head on the drink that I haven’t seen in other energy drinks. Other than the foam head, the color looks very similar to SoBe No Fear. Mother has a wet earth, loamy smell with a hint of mint to it. Upon tasting it, it comes across as not too sweet and at first seems absent of any flavor. It's very light in your mouth, but has a sharp bitterness to it. There’s not very much flavor of acai in my mind but if Steaz is acai then I guess I can taste the same kind of flavor here. I’ve been consuming acai products for awhile so definitely consider myself an expert on this topic. There’s definitely a strong green tea component here in Full Throttle Mother with some serious tannins. While Mother is not very sweet, some fruit definitely comes through but it’s the typical apple/pear vehicle that energy drinks typically use for other flavors. On top of that apple-pear base is layered this tea flavor and a little bit of the nebulous berry flavor similar to Steaz, which still doesn't taste like acai to me, and a hint of blueberry. It's not great at first but as you drink it you get used to the bitterness and you're left with an interesting flavor that's not bad, but is by no means good. It's not compelling enough for me to drink over other all natural drink choices or based on its taste.
The buzz was definitely underwhelming. I felt like I had drank a few Cokes on an empty stomach, nothing more than that. The ingredients used in Full Throttle Mother are sucrose, ginseng, caffeine, Vitamin B complex, Vitamin E, and guarana. As I have said time and time again, going all natural is no excuse for not putting in taurine, especially when there are natural sources of taurine. I'm really disappointed by the lack of taurine although Full Throttle has tried to make up for it with 142mg of caffeine per 16 oz. can. If you look at the bottom of the can there is a tiny label that says 1.182 mg of acai. That is such a minuscule amount of acai that it is pathetic. It’s like why bother, and that’s how I feel about Full Throttle Mother.

That's 1.182 GRAMS of acai. Or 1,182 mg.
I like the taste, and the clean buzz.
I tasted it because Im an energy drink pro.. It actually tastes like boiled peanuts and a hint of fruit juice....my husband thought i was just saying it but he actually agreed!
I think it tasted like the smell of pine. I know that sounds weird! But thats what I think! Its okay, but I'm still trying to figure out if I like it or not.
I like the clean buzz. After reading your article I looked at the can that I had just finished and noticing that I was a heck of alot more awake than when I first took a sip, I have to say that with no jittery feelings and a heightened awareness I can deal with the rustic taste. I can't do artificial perservatives and until someone provides another beverage as widely available with the same or better effect, I am going to suckel from mother and enjoy the absence of unnecessary sweetners. and goo.
hated the taste like the rush from it
i tried it. i like it at first, but noticed that after the feeling of being alert subsides, i felt so depressed. i tried it two times and it happened to me two times. it made me so depressed to the point of wanting to cry. but for about an hour or so, it's over.
One of the best energy drinks I have had. It gives a clean buzz like others have said, with no jitters like I get from other drinks including the other Full Throttle flavors. I feel that the tastle is primarily the apple and the pear juices. At least thats what I taste, which is great because pears are my favorite. Also I picked Full Throttle Mother from a overstock store(Big Lots), I got them for $.75 a can. Well worth the cost.
I found them on sale at The Dollar Tree for 50 cent. Thay taste really good to me but I did notice a little depression after having one. I didn't think it had anything to do with the drink but now that I see that it's happened to someone else, I may be wrong.
I too have noticed this depression. Thats why I started searching for Mother online. Is it a womans drink? Thats my only guess as to why it makes me so weird.
"Bad Mother" has been discontinued due to lack of sales. Get it while you can.
